Eastbourne Liberal Jewish Community is a constituent member of Liberal Judaism, one of the UK's Progressive Jewish movements. Our members come from the town of Eastbourne and the wider East Sussex area, including Hastings/St Leonards, Bexhill, Uckfield, Wadhurst, East Grinstead, Lewes, Seaford and surrounding areas. We have our own part-time rabbi, Rabbi Roberta Harris-Eckstein, and we meet one Friday evening and one Saturday morning a month for services. We also hold some festival services.
See our Services page for the latest information on what's on.
Potential new members and genuine visitors are welcome to attend our services. If you have not visited us before, please phone or email before your visit to let us know you are coming. We will ask you for photo ID and for your name and address for security reasons.
DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS
All Services, Lessons and Events
Are Of Course Cancelled
Until Further Notice
Like all religious communities in the UK, and indeed, throughout much of the world, we are following the guidelines to suspend all services and communal gatherings until all relevant restrictions are lifted. When that will be, no one can say, although it appears likely that the earliest return to a normal schedule might be sometime in May, but most probably into June and perhaps beyond that. There will be of course be no Communal Seder this year.
We will indicate on this website (as well as informing the community’s members and associates separately) when services, lessons and any related activities are able to resume…
Thank you for your understanding, patience and may you stay healthy and well.
